Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the house, explaining how you spend your time, and inviting your friend. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the description of the house is brief, and the explanation of your time spent could be more detailed to fully engage the reader. To improve, try to expand on your descriptions with more descriptive adjectives and specific anecdotes about your daily routine. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is generally easy to follow, and the progression of ideas is logical. You use basic cohesive devices like 'and' and 'as well as' to connect your thoughts. However, the paragraphing is missing; the entire letter is written as one block of text. To achieve a higher band score, you should organize your letter into clear paragraphs: one for the introduction and house description, one for your activities, and one for the invitation and closing. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel a bit abrupt, which could be smoothed out with better linking words.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant terms like 'spacious', 'nostalgic', and 'utilities'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'utlities', 'neighbour hood', 'rember', and 'nostaligic', which occasionally distract the reader. Your word choice is functional but lacks variety. To improve, try to incorporate more precise adjectives and avoid repetitive phrasing. Focusing on accurate spelling and using a slightly wider range of descriptive language will help you move into a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, particularly with article usage ('the' park, 'a' one-bedroom house) and verb tense consistency ('Mostly i worked' should be 'I mostly work'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters and incorrect spacing after commas. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and basic punctuation rules will significantly improve your accuracy.
