Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all three bullet points: describing the house, explaining how time is spent, and inviting the friend. However, the development of these ideas is quite limited. The description of the house is brief, and the explanation of how you are spending your time is somewhat repetitive and lacks detail. While the task is fulfilled, the content is quite basic and lacks the depth required for a higher band score. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, but the overall development of ideas needs to be more substantial to fully meet the requirements of the task.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between sentences is often disjointed. The use of cohesive devices is very limited and sometimes inaccurate, such as the repetitive use of 'so' and 'and' to connect ideas. There is a lack of variety in linking words, which makes the progression of ideas feel mechanical. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and the paragraphing is not used effectively to separate the different topics requested in the prompt. Improving the use of transition signals would significantly enhance the readability of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. There are several spelling errors, such as 'writting', 'atchully', 'nwe', 'edmenton', 'sidesine', and 'poppular', which occasionally make it difficult to follow the intended meaning. The range of vocabulary is limited to simple, everyday words. To improve, you should focus on learning more precise adjectives to describe the house and the activities, and pay closer attention to the spelling of common words. The current range is just enough to convey the basic message but lacks the flexibility needed for a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with verb tense consistency ('we are not meat', 'we are not meet'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, which hinders clarity. There is very little evidence of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent, particularly with the use of periods and commas. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar structures significantly impacts the overall quality of the writing.
