Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the house, explaining how time is spent, and inviting the friend. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which limits the development of ideas. The description of the house is functional but brief, and the invitation is missing entirely, as the text ends abruptly before extending a formal request for the friend to visit. To improve, you must ensure all parts of the prompt are fully developed and that the response meets the length requirement to avoid a penalty.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into short paragraphs, but the flow is interrupted by the abrupt ending. There is a basic attempt at logical progression, starting with the news of the vacation and moving to the house description. However, the use of cohesive devices is limited. For example, the transition 'Firstly' is used, but there is no subsequent 'secondly' or logical conclusion. The lack of a proper closing or sign-off further impacts the coherence of the letter format. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring a complete structure will help improve this score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing for clear communication of basic ideas. You used some descriptive terms like 'fully furnished' and 'mini theatre,' which are appropriate. However, there are some awkward collocations and minor errors, such as 'cottage house' (redundant) and 'these trip' (incorrect determiner). The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on simple descriptors. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise adjectives and varied phrasing to describe the setting and your activities, while ensuring correct word choice.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writing contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I wanted to live once in my life on my birthday with close friend's' (incorrect possessive and awkward syntax) and 'House is a 3 bedroom' (missing article). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of apostrophes and commas. While the meaning is generally clear, these frequent errors indicate a need for more careful proofreading. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve your accuracy.
