Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The letter covers all three bullet points: describing the house, explaining how you spend your time, and inviting your friend. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which limits the development of your ideas. The descriptions are quite brief and lack the descriptive detail expected in an IELTS letter. For instance, 'my home is very small' could be expanded with more vivid adjectives or details about the lake view mentioned in the prompt. To improve, aim to elaborate on each point with more specific examples and descriptive language to meet the length requirement and fully develop your response.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into short paragraphs, which is appropriate for the format. However, the flow between sentences is somewhat mechanical. You rely on simple sentence structures, and there is a lack of varied cohesive devices to link your ideas smoothly. For example, the transition between describing the house and your daily activities is abrupt. Using more linking words or phrases such as 'Furthermore,' 'In addition,' or 'Consequently' would help improve the logical progression of your ideas. The paragraphing is present but could be more effectively used to separate the distinct parts of your message.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You use repetitive phrasing, such as 'my home' and 'my time,' and some word choices are unnatural, such as 'exit location' and 'in my ways.' To improve, try to incorporate more descriptive adjectives and varied verbs. Instead of 'my home is very small,' you could use 'the cottage is compact yet cozy.' Expanding your vocabulary to include more specific collocations related to renting a house or spending leisure time will significantly enhance your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response consists primarily of simple sentences with some grammatical errors that occasionally affect clarity. There are issues with article usage ('a two bedroom', 'a balcony'), pluralization ('two bathroom'), and prepositions ('come on my home'). You have not demonstrated a range of complex structures, which is necessary for higher band scores. To improve, focus on mastering subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Additionally, try to combine simple sentences using relative clauses or conjunctions to create more complex and varied sentence structures, which will improve the overall sophistication of your writing.
