Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Aman,
I am delighted to tell you that, I rented a three-room house with a big balcony view in the front of the most fabulous and popular lake. The most beautiful part of this house is the morning view. The first view of the lake with sunshine in morning is unforgettable. We always start our day with this fantastic view and in daytime we spend a couple of hours in boating and fishing and in evening we enjoy music festivals near beach whereas the neighbours also join for dancing . In night we spend time in events, organised by locals specially for tourists. Additionally there is one coffee cafe which is very popular for their matcha coffee and cookies
I feel greatfull if you also spend time a couple of days with us. So, we can also create some beautifull memories.
Thank You
Babneet Singh

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have addressed all three bullet points: describing the house, your activities, and inviting your friend. However, the response is slightly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which impacts your score. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat brief and could be expanded with more descriptive detail to fully meet the task requirements. For example, the description of the house and the invitation could be more elaborate to provide a more engaging tone suitable for a letter to a friend.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter follows a logical sequence, moving from the description of the house to activities and finally the invitation. However, the paragraphing is insufficient; the entire body of the letter is presented as one block of text. Using clear paragraph breaks between the different topics would significantly improve the structure. Additionally, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat limited, relying on basic connectors like 'and' or 'in'. Incorporating a wider variety of linking words would help the flow of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have used some good descriptive vocabulary, such as 'fabulous', 'unforgettable', and 'delighted'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'greatfull' (grateful) and 'beautifull' (beautiful), and some awkward phrasing like 'balcony view in the front of'. To reach a higher band, focus on accurate spelling and more natural collocations. Expanding your range of vocabulary to include more precise adjectives and adverbs would also enhance the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I am delighted to tell you that, I rented' (incorrect comma usage) and 'In night we spend time' (missing article 'the'). Additionally, the sentence 'I feel greatfull if you also spend time' should be 'I would be grateful if you could spend time'. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to affect the overall accuracy of your writing.
