Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear friend
Hope you are doing well. Couple of days back i rented a 2 story cozy house near the mill lake. i just spend 2000 bugs for it. And it also a well-furnished house with modern technologies. i got it just for 5 months in summer so i can spend my summer time better by doing fishing in lake and kayaking over there. Apart from that doing exercise and walk in summers at morning time which i feel make my summer time memorable as i am love nature. i really would like to appreciate if you join me for some days and live in my house so we both will make fun and enjoy summer vacations. Moreover we will do barbeque at night at the edge of the lake which i feel really joyful for both of us as we did in our childhood with our families.
warm reagrds

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter covers all three bullet points: describing the house, explaining how time is spent, and inviting the friend. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the description of the house is brief, and the invitation lacks a specific timeframe or sense of urgency. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a friend, though the informal language (e.g., '2000 bugs') is slightly inconsistent with the task's requirements for a balanced response. To improve, you should expand on your descriptions with more descriptive adjectives and provide more detail regarding your daily activities to fully satisfy the 'well-developed' requirement of higher bands.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organized into a single block of text, which makes it difficult to follow. While there is a logical progression from the house description to the activities and finally the invitation, the lack of paragraphing is a significant weakness. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Apart from that' and 'Moreover', but they are sometimes used mechanically or with awkward phrasing. To reach a higher band, you must use clear paragraph breaks to separate your ideas and ensure that your linking words flow more naturally within the sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use some informal or incorrect terms, such as '2000 bugs' (which should be 'bucks') and 'make fun' (which is usually 'have fun'). Phrases like 'modern technologies' are a bit vague in the context of a summer house. While the meaning is clear, the range is limited, and there are errors in word choice that prevent a higher score. Incorporating more precise descriptive language would significantly enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with articles ('the lake'), verb tenses ('i just spend'), and sentence structure ('i really would like to appreciate if you join me'). The use of 'i' instead of 'I' is a consistent error that affects the professional quality of the writing. While you attempt some complex sentences, they often contain errors that impede the flow. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and consistent capitalization will help improve your accuracy significantly.
