Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points: describing the house, explaining your activities, and inviting your friend. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the description of the house is a list of features rather than a cohesive description, and the activities are mentioned briefly. To improve, try to expand on your experiences—for example, describe the atmosphere of the lake or why you are particularly excited about the party. The purpose of the letter is clear, and the response is well-focused on the task requirements.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'However' to connect your thoughts. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'top of that room are furnised'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear central theme will help you achieve a higher band score in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, but there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'swiming', 'balconey', 'furnised', 'diapponted') and some awkward collocations like 'mesmerized place' instead of 'mesmerizing place'. While your meaning is generally clear, these errors occasionally distract the reader. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise adjectives and ensuring correct spelling of common descriptive words. You have attempted some informal language suitable for a letter to a friend, which is a positive step.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('There is many things'), missing articles ('near to lake'), and incorrect verb forms ('hope everything is doing well' instead of 'going well'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of semicolons and capitalisation. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your score.
