Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear vishal,
Hope you are doing well buddy. The paramount reason behind writing this letter to you is that I bought a home, which is located close to lake. Furthermore, this is a three story house which has four separate rooms. Also, the interior is painted and decorated with blue colour and wood respectively.
As you know, I have summer vacations, this house is a good place to spend and enjoy quality time with family members. Moreover, there is also a gym with full of equipments inside the house. So, I can easily go there in order to do physical activities.
I want to add that I am really missing you whenever I go to gym as you are my gym partner. I know that you are busy in your career. However , if you get free time , please visit our home . I vividly remember that I already sent to you address of the house. Catch you soon my dear one.
Yours loving
Jyoti

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points: describing the house, explaining how you spend your time, and inviting your friend. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the house has four rooms and a gym, providing more descriptive detail about the view of the lake or the atmosphere would have made the response more engaging. Additionally, there is a slight inaccuracy in the opening where you state you 'bought' the house, whereas the prompt specifies you 'rented' it. Ensuring closer attention to the prompt details will help you achieve a higher band score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'However' to link your ideas. While the flow is generally clear, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'I want to add that'. The referencing is mostly clear, though the connection between the gym and the invitation could be smoother. Overall, the structure is easy to follow, and the paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different topics.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'paramount', 'interior', and 'vividly'. There are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'gym with full of equipments' (should be 'a gym full of equipment') and 'busy in your career' (should be 'busy with your career'). 'Equipments' is an uncountable noun and should not be pluralized. While you attempt some less common vocabulary, these small inaccuracies prevent a higher score. Focusing on correct collocations and the distinction between countable and uncountable nouns will improve your lexical precision.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I bought a home, which is located close to lake' (missing 'the' before 'lake') and 'I already sent to you address' (missing 'the' before 'address'). Additionally, 'Yours loving' is an incorrect closing; 'Yours lovingly' or 'Best wishes' would be more appropriate. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to suggest a need for more careful proofreading, particularly regarding articles and prepositional phrases. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures would also be beneficial.
