Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Shiras,
Hope you are doing well. I am writing this to inform you that I have rented a house in your city, London. So, no need to seek for another one for this summer.
The house is build next to the lake Periyar, which is popular for its beauty. And i can easily access all the amenities which i needed . I can go to work by walking five minutes from this house, which will spare me some time for extra activities. The morning view from my room is amusing and you should see it.
I am also taking a vacation of two weeks in the month of June. So, I can completely spend these days the house itself. I also bought a new play station and three games. And you know, one is your favorite game Fifa26.
Hope you are also free on the second week of June. Since, your factory going under lay off. It would be fun if you are also here with me for those days. So, please schedule these days accordingily

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: the house is described, your activities are mentioned, and an invitation is extended. However, the development of these points is somewhat superficial. For example, the description of the house is brief, and the explanation of how you spend your time is limited to mentioning a vacation and a video game. To achieve a higher band, you should provide more descriptive detail and elaborate on your experiences to better engage the reader. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a friend, though the opening is slightly abrupt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'The house is', 'I am also', and 'Since', to link sentences. However, some transitions feel mechanical, and the use of 'And' at the beginning of sentences is repetitive and informal. The referencing is generally clear, but the flow between the description of the house and the invitation could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence of the text.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic descriptors like 'popular' and 'amusing'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'seek for another one' (should be 'look for') and 'build next to' (should be 'built next to'). While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or idiomatic language that would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'The house is build' (passive voice error), 'amenities which i needed' (tense inconsistency), and 'your factory going under lay off' (missing auxiliary verb). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of capital letters for 'i' and spacing issues around punctuation marks. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall accuracy of the writing.
