Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Muskan,
Hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to tell you about my new house that I recently rented.
My new house is spacious enough to live for two people as you know I am sharing the house with my cousin sister. It has two master bedroom with attached bathrooms, a small kitchen with all the essentials available, a modest living area and a small garden on the backyard.
I rented it at a very reasonable price and its very near to my workplace that saves my time. So, After coming back from the work, I spend some time in the garden while having my evening tea and snacks. Apart from that, It is fully furnished house and before going to bed, my cousin and me enjoy our dinner in the dining or living area and watch our favourite comedy show.
I want to invite you to my house next month as its my birthday, so that we can also spend our quality time and celebrate together by doing night party.
Hope to see you soon.
Yours lovingly,
Aman

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You described the house, explained your daily routine, and extended a clear invitation to your friend. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a friendly and informal style throughout. The ideas are relevant and sufficiently developed to meet the requirements of the task. To improve, you could provide slightly more descriptive detail about the lake or the surrounding area to enhance the imagery and make the letter more engaging for the reader.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear progression of ideas. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt, which helps the reader follow your narrative easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Apart from that' and 'So,' though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate for a letter format. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., 'it', 'this') is always precise to improve the flow between sentences.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'spacious', 'essentials', and 'fully furnished' effectively. However, there are some minor inaccuracies and awkward phrasings, such as 'cousin sister' (which is redundant; 'cousin' is sufficient) and 'on the backyard' (should be 'in the backyard'). The vocabulary is generally functional and clear, but to achieve a higher score, you should aim to incorporate more precise collocations and less common lexical items to describe your experiences and the house's features.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'two master bedroom' (should be plural 'bedrooms'), 'its very near' (should be 'it's'), and 'my cousin and me' (should be 'my cousin and I'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, though there are some inconsistent capitalizations, such as 'After' and 'It' in the middle of sentences. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent use of articles will help improve your accuracy.
