Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Anmol,
How are you doing? It's been a long time to see you. I am happy to tell you that I have rented a house near Louise Lake for the summer months from March to July.
My everyday is just like a vacation here, and I have bought a 60-inch smart LED to make my living room a Cinema hall. Moreover, as a swimmer, I am spending most of the time swimming. Bed tea, while seeing this scenic view, makes my morning extraordinary. Furthermore, Bird chirping, a large number of trees, and the mountains covered with snow are similar to being in the seventh cloud.
You would be very excited to know that I want you to be here and visit this beautiful and royal-looking house. Therefore, I would eagerly wait for you.
Hoping to see you soon!
Yours lovingly
Parveen

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: describing the house, explaining how time is spent, and inviting the friend. However, the response is 142 words, which falls short of the 150-word minimum requirement. This under-length impacts the development of ideas; for instance, the description of the house is somewhat brief, and the invitation lacks detail or a specific plan. To improve, you should expand on your descriptions—perhaps by mentioning the number of rooms or the specific activities you plan to do with your friend—to ensure the response is fully developed and meets the length requirement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, and the progression of ideas is generally clear. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'Therefore' to link your thoughts. However, the use of these devices is sometimes slightly mechanical or unnatural in the context of an informal letter to a friend. For example, 'Therefore, I would eagerly wait for you' feels a bit formal for this task. Improving the flow between sentences by using more natural, conversational transitions would help achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using descriptive phrases like 'scenic view' and 'extraordinary'. However, there are some issues with word choice and collocation. For instance, 'It's been a long time to see you' is not a natural idiom; 'It's been a long time since I saw you' would be better. Additionally, 'seventh cloud' is an incorrect idiom; the correct phrase is 'on cloud nine'. Expanding your range of natural collocations and ensuring idiomatic accuracy will significantly improve your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors. Examples include 'My everyday is just like a vacation' (should be 'Every day'), 'Bird chirping' (should be 'The chirping of birds'), and 'I have rented a house... from March to July' (which is fine, but the overall sentence structure could be more varied). Punctuation is generally acceptable, but some phrasing is awkward. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and more natural sentence construction will help you achieve a higher score.
