Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Tanisha,
I hope you are doing well! I am writing to inform you about a trip at a rented house by a lake for the summer.
First of all, Life has been really stressful lately due to which I decided to plan a time off for myself. Therefore, I planned to book this beautiful property, which is in the midst of the lush green forest and surrounded by waterfalls.
Also, It offers numerous kind of activities to enjoy with loved ones. I have prepared a list to participate in some like sunrise trek, and fishing. As, Im interested to stay at property for almost a month, so ensured to carry adequate resources along with me.
Anyways, I would really like you to join as I thought it would be a great experience to witness such wilderness together during this summer. let me know if you are interested to join with me on this staycation.
I can't wait to catch up with you soon. Take Care.
Warm Regards,
Neelu Raghuwanshi

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: describing the house, explaining your activities, and inviting your friend. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose of the communication is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, while you mention the house is in a forest with waterfalls, adding a few more descriptive details about the interior or the atmosphere would have made the letter more engaging. Similarly, the invitation could be more persuasive by highlighting why your friend specifically would enjoy the location. Overall, you have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Also', and 'Anyways' to transition between ideas. While these are functional, they are somewhat repetitive and mechanical. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. To reach a higher band, try to vary your linking words and use more sophisticated referencing (e.g., using pronouns or synonyms to refer back to previously mentioned concepts) to improve the flow between sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'lush green forest', 'staycation', and 'adequate resources' correctly. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'numerous kind of activities' (should be 'numerous kinds of activities') and 'participate in some like' (which is slightly awkward phrasing). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. Focusing on more natural collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing will help improve your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as 'due to which I decided' (awkward relative clause usage), 'Im' (missing apostrophe), and 'stay at property' (missing article 'the'). Additionally, there are some punctuation errors, such as unnecessary capitalization in 'Life' and 'It'. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, article usage, and consistent punctuation will significantly improve your accuracy.
