Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the ideas. While you attempted to address the three bullet points—describing the house, your activities, and inviting a friend—the content is underdeveloped. The invitation is entirely missing from the text, which is a key requirement of the prompt. Furthermore, the narrative drifts into a long, repetitive anecdote about cooking and your mother, which is not relevant to the task of describing your summer rental experience. To improve, ensure you dedicate a full paragraph to each bullet point and check that you have addressed all instructions before concluding.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0
The letter lacks a clear structure or paragraphing. The ideas are presented in a stream-of-consciousness style, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your thoughts. There is a lack of cohesive devices; sentences are often joined by simple commas or run-on structures rather than logical connectors. For example, the transition from describing the lake to the cooking anecdote is abrupt and confusing. To improve, use clear paragraph breaks for each topic and employ linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your sentences more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.0
The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive, which limits your ability to convey your experience effectively. There are numerous spelling errors, such as 'byutifull' (beautiful), 'hapy' (happy), 'Haley' (likely meant 'happy'), and 'smail' (smell). The word choice is restricted to simple, everyday language, and there is no attempt to use more sophisticated or descriptive vocabulary to paint a picture of the lake house. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common adjectives and try to incorporate more descriptive language to enhance your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The grammar is highly problematic throughout the response. There are frequent errors in sentence construction, such as comma splices and run-on sentences (e.g., 'we are enjoying the summer there and we take a bath in a lake many time and my hapy to see this place'). Verb tense consistency is poor, and there are significant issues with subject-verb agreement and word order. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, which makes the text difficult to read and understand. You should focus on writing shorter, simpler sentences to ensure grammatical accuracy before attempting more complex structures.
