Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear friend,
Hello, hope you are doing well.
I just want to let you know that we rented a house in Tobermory for the summer holiday, and the house is very beautiful. It has 4 or 5 rooms available, and there is also a huge kitchen balcony with an amazing view of the lake. There is a ladder to go down and enjoy the beach view as well.
We recently shifted there, and it is a very spacious place to spend time with loved ones. I just want to invite you here to spend a good time with us. And there are nearby places as well that we can visit. Also, we can hang out with each other and enjoy a lot of time together in the summer. You can also bring your friends; we have plenty of space for you to stay with us. We can also do some activities there, like a barbecue, provided we can eat it. There is also a place where we can do campaign so you can come during your summer vacation to spend some time.
Best regards,
Jainee patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: describing the house, explaining how you are spending your time, and inviting your friend. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the description of the house is quite basic, and the mention of 'campaign' (likely meaning camping) is unclear in context. To reach a higher band, you should provide more descriptive detail and ensure that your explanations are fully developed rather than just listed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is generally easy to follow, and the progression of ideas is logical. You use basic cohesive devices like 'also' and 'and' to link sentences. However, the paragraphing is weak; the entire body of the letter is presented as one block. Using clear paragraph breaks to separate the description of the house from the invitation and activities would significantly improve the structure. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel a bit repetitive, which makes the flow feel slightly mechanical at times.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'spacious', 'loved ones', and 'vacation'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'shifted there' (which usually refers to moving house permanently rather than renting for a holiday) and 'do campaign' (which is not a standard collocation). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the variety and precision required for higher bands. Focusing on more natural collocations would help improve your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and compound sentences, which is sufficient for this task. There are some grammatical errors, such as 'enjoy a lot of time together' (which is slightly unnatural) and the confusing phrasing 'provided we can eat it' regarding the barbecue. While these errors do not impede communication, they are noticeable. To improve, try to incorporate a wider variety of complex sentence structures and pay closer attention to subject-verb agreement and natural phrasing.
