Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Maaz,
I hope you’ve been well. It feels like ages since we last spoke, so I was really happy to het in touch with you hear from you. i wanted express my thoughts about my house i just shifted. The house is giving me old school kind a vibe so basically the architecture work os done fabulously and it has 3 bedrooms so the privacy remains constant and it has specious TV lounge and small dining hall attached to it but the main thing i wanted to share is my room is on 2nd floor and there is no other bedroom on that floor and beside that a small room that was used as store room by last tenant but i renovate it and make it a gaming room so now i would highly appreciate if you can come and visit my home so we can enjoy a little bit more in privacy.
I know you are also willing to listen how is my routine going and did i adjusted myself here or not So my dearest friend i was little bored when we just shifted because i was very nee to the area and don't know how to manage things but slowly and steadily i observed that people of that town are amazing they celebrate every occasion with full swing and enjoy their moments with family and friends mostly.
Please let me know what you eventually decide, and don’t hesitate to write back if you need any further information. I’d love to hear from you again, and hopefully we can catch up soon.
Give my regards to everyone at home.
All the best,

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points: describing the house, explaining your daily routine, and inviting your friend. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat informal and occasionally lacks detail. For instance, while you mention the house has three bedrooms and a gaming room, the description could be more vivid to better engage the reader. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and you have maintained a consistent focus on the task throughout the response. To reach a higher band, ensure that your descriptions are more descriptive and fully developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'so', 'but', and 'however', to link your thoughts. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes a bit mechanical, and the transition between the description of the house and your daily routine is abrupt. Additionally, some sentences are quite long and run-on, which can make the progression of ideas feel slightly cluttered. Improving the use of linking words and varying your sentence structure would help create a smoother, more natural flow throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your ideas effectively. You use some descriptive phrases like 'old school kind a vibe' and 'full swing', which add personality to your writing. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'shifted' (instead of 'moved') and 'specious' (likely meaning 'spacious'). There are also minor spelling errors like 'nee' (new). While these do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary usage. Expanding your range of synonyms and focusing on correct collocations will help you achieve a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and subject-verb agreement, such as 'i renovate it and make it' (should be 'I renovated it and made it') and 'did i adjusted' (should be 'did I adjust'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences that lack proper capitalization or full stops. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. Focusing on consistent tense usage and sentence boundary punctuation will significantly improve your accuracy.
