Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You successfully covered all three bullet points required in the task instructions. You described the house well, mentioning its size, views, eco-friendly materials like 'plastic bottles, strings, wires and tins', and the mini library. You also described how you are spending your time there by mentioning that you read books, enjoy the view of the dusk and dawn, and spend time near the lake. Finally, you successfully invited your friend Mohit to visit and mentioned a party with classmates. Your ideas are relevant and appropriate for a semi-formal letter to a friend. The tone is friendly and conversational, perfectly suiting General Training Task 1. Although the paragraphing could be structured more cleanly, all parts of the prompt are addressed adequately, justifying a solid score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
Your letter has a coherent overall arrangement, and your ideas flow quite logically from introducing the house to describing your activities, and finally to making the invitation. However, there are some issues with referencing and paragraphing. The entire body of the letter is essentially crammed into one dense paragraph after the opening salutation, making it a bit difficult to visually navigate. Cohesive devices are used, but sometimes rather mechanically, such as 'As a matter of fact' and 'Apart from this'. Paragraphing should be used to separate distinct topics, such as putting the description of the house in one paragraph, your daily routine in another, and the invitation in a final paragraph. This would greatly improve the logical flow and presentation of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrated an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common and interesting lexical items such as 'radiant health', 'plethora of books', 'fascinating view', and 'recycle materials'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors, such as 'facilites' instead of facilities, 'recycle' instead of recycled, 'come in my place' instead of come to my place, 'jon' instead of join, and the missing capitalisation in 'we will spend time together'. Despite these slips, your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly without impeding the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, you need to reduce spelling mistakes and ensure greater accuracy in collocations and prepositions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempted a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating clauses with 'Although', 'where', and 'such as'. There are, however, several grammatical errors and punctuation issues throughout the response. For instance, there is missing punctuation or awkward spacing, and phrases like 'It is extremely nice view around my house' lack correct articles ('It is an extremely nice view'). Furthermore, sentences like 'Also, I organise a party and all of our classmates will come to jon this party.we will spend time together' show tense shifts and run-on phrasing ('jon this party.we'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent you from achieving a higher score. Working on subject-verb agreement, article usage, and punctuation will help improve your grammatical accuracy.
