Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Isabella,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to give you an invitation for my new house which was rented by me only for the summer season. Moreover, the most attractive thing is that it is near to the lake Louise.
To begin with, Last month, I have seen an advertisement for renting property in my region. Hence, I have decided to rent a small home which is near to the nature. However, my new home has all the luxurious facilities. Furthermore, it has big playground in the back for playing games in the summer.
Additionally, I could spend my summer time easily in my house and interested to do some activities. So, I am planning to utilize my time by doing the gardening. However, If you are available in the next month to come and visit my property then I would be really happy to see you again. Let's make a plan for the next month.
Bye, take care.
Lots of love,
Riddhi

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You have successfully covered all three bullet points required in the prompt. You described the rented lake house mentioning features like its location near Lake Louise and the big playground in the back. You also described how you are spending your time there, noting your plans for gardening, and you successfully extended a warm invitation to your friend Isabella to visit next month. The tone is appropriately informal and friendly throughout, matching the conventions of a general letter. The purpose of the letter is clear, and your ideas are relevant to the scenario presented. Overall, this satisfies the requirements for a Band 6.5 to 7.0 range, as all parts of the task are addressed with adequate elaboration.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter shows a clear overall organization with an appropriate opening and closing. You have attempted to use cohesive devices to link your ideas together, such as "To begin with," "Furthermore," and "Additionally." However, some of these linkers feel a bit mechanical or are slightly overused, such as starting consecutive sentences with "However," in awkward places. Paragraphing is used to separate different topics, which helps the reader follow the flow of your thoughts easily. To push into a higher band, you should aim for smoother, more natural transitions between sentences rather than relying on formulaic transition phrases.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as "luxurious facilities," "advertisement," and "utilize my time." However, there are some unnatural word choices and collocations that reveal a lack of precision. For instance, writing "give you an invitation for my new house which was rented by me" is unnatural; it would be more idiomatic to write "invite you to my new rented house." Similarly, phrases like "lake Louise" should be capitalized correctly ("Lake Louise"). Despite these occasional errors, your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly without impeding communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You have attempted a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over grammar. However, there are several grammatical errors and tense inaccuracies throughout the text. For example, writing "which was rented by me only for the summer season" is overly wordy and passive, and "Last month, I have seen an advertisement" mixes past time markers with the present perfect tense (it should be simply "I saw"). You also wrote "near to the lake," which should just be "near the lake." While these errors occasionally distract from the reading experience, they rarely impede overall communication, placing your grammar securely in the Band 6 range.
