Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 3.0
The response only partially addresses the prompt because it completely misses the first two bullet points regarding describing the rented house by the lake and explaining how time is being spent there. Instead of focusing on the actual scenario, the letter centers on the writer being alone at home and wanting the friend to visit for a party. Although the final bullet point of inviting a friend is included, the omission of the core situational details means the task requirements are heavily overlooked. Ideas remain limited, repetitive, and under-developed, focusing heavily on repeating the invitation and expressing a desire not to be left alone rather than establishing the requested holiday setting.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 3.5
The letter lacks proper paragraphing and organization, presenting all text as a single block that lacks clear overall progression. While there are some basic attempts to connect ideas using words like 'if' and 'because', cohesive devices are repetitive, mechanical, and occasionally inaccurate, such as 'on that you take your own friend also at my home'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the flow between sentences feels abrupt due to the lack of cohesive linking. To improve, the writer needs to structure the response into distinct paragraphs with clear logical sequencing and a wider variety of appropriate transition words to guide the reader smoothly through the text.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, relying heavily on simple phrases like 'come to my home', 'feel well', and 'old days'. There are noticeable errors in word choice and phrasing, such as 'I want request you' instead of 'I want to ask you' or 'I invite you', and 'i am exciting' instead of 'I am excited'. Spelling is generally straightforward, but lowercase usage for the pronoun 'i' and proper formatting issues detract from the overall quality. The range of vocabulary is minimally adequate for basic communication, but it lacks the flexibility, precision, and less common items needed to express ideas more naturally and effectively.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
The writing displays a very limited range of structures, consisting mainly of simple and basic sentences. Attempts at complex clauses are often faulty or awkward, such as in the sentence 'dont do write that letter about you will busy on that day'. There are frequent errors in verb forms, tenses, prepositions, and sentence boundaries, including 'I will free on 3 october 2026', 'meet with you', and missing auxiliary verbs. Punctuation and capitalization are also poorly controlled throughout the letter. These frequent grammatical errors and limited sentence patterns cause some difficulty and strain for the reader while trying to interpret the intended meaning.
