Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Lovepreet,

I hope you are doing well. I just want to write this letter to you about my rented house in which I'm living. It is very beautiful and comfortable house according to my taste and I have a wonderful time at the house with large garden and fantastic view of the water of the lake from my room window. There are lot of trees and after listening the sounds of the birds make me feel more relex and happy.

As you know, I'm nature lover so most of the time i spend in the garden and enjoy a cup of tea while reading a book. Sometimes i went to the lake for fishing with my neighbours. They are very nice and we enjoy a barbque. In the evening, I always go for walk in the front of the house where i enjoy the view of the sunset after finishing my dinner.

I really wish you could enjoy the experience of this place with me. we could do lot of activities like swimming, fishing and many more. I am sure you will enjoy the everything.

I waiting for your response and let me know when will you come.

Best wishes

Gurman

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The letter addresses all three requirements: you describe the rented house and its lake view, explain how you spend your time, and invite Lovepreet to visit. Details such as reading in the garden, fishing with neighbours and watching the sunset make the account personal and relevant. The invitation is clear, especially when you suggest swimming and fishing together. This is a well-focused response with ideas extended through examples. To make the content more fully developed, give the friend a little more practical information about the visit, such as when to come or what arrangements you could make. The description of the house could also include one or two more specific features beyond its garden and view.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear progression: you introduce the house, describe your daily activities, and then invite your friend. The paragraph breaks support this sequence, and phrases such as “As you know” and “Sometimes” help connect ideas and establish a friendly tone. The closing also makes the purpose of the letter clear. To strengthen cohesion further, vary the links between activities and avoid placing several details in long sentences joined mainly by “and.” For example, the house description could be divided into shorter, more clearly connected points, and the invitation could lead naturally into a specific suggestion about when to visit. Overall, the organisation is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough vocabulary to describe the setting and activities, including “fantastic view,” “sounds of the birds,” “fishing” and “sunset.” These choices communicate the main ideas and suit an informal letter. However, the range is not consistently precise or natural: phrases such as “water of the lake,” “in the front of the house” and “enjoy the everything” show awkward word choice or collocation. There are also spelling errors, including “relex” and “barbque,” which reduce accuracy. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully. More precise expressions for the house and outdoor activities would make the description more fluent and varied.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response includes both simple statements and attempts at longer sentences, such as the description of the garden and the activities you enjoy. The meaning is generally understandable, but errors in verb forms, articles, agreement and sentence construction are frequent enough to limit grammatical control. Examples include “There are lot of trees,” “Sometimes i went to the lake,” “I waiting for your response,” and “I am sure you will enjoy the everything.” Capitalisation and punctuation also need attention, particularly the lowercase “i” and the sentence beginning “we could.” Practise accurate present-tense forms and article use, and check each sentence for a complete subject and verb. Shorter, correctly formed sentences will help you communicate more reliably.
