Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Saira,
I hope you're enjoying good health. You will be pleased to know that I have rented a tenancy near the lake particularly, for the summer season.
This house is a masterpiece having five bedrooms with attached bathrooms. Additionally, there is a spacious Tv lounge and a functional kitchen where I prepare meals for my family. There is a balcony which presents a eye catching view of the lake and the green space around it.
The atmosphere is quiet relaxing and the rhythemic sounds of waves give aesthetic vibes. We are spending a great time here as it is away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. The cool breeze which blows more frequently helps to maintain the temperature and we rarely feel hot in this intense summer.
It has been a long time since we meet. I am planning to invite you at my new place and I am sure you will love this place. Tell me about your availability so that I can arrange a get together to unwind from hectic routine.
Hope to see you soon,
Yours sincerely,
Albert

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The letter covers all three required points: you describe the house and its lake view, explain that you are enjoying the peaceful setting and cool breeze, and invite Saira to visit. The invitation is clear in “Tell me about your availability,” and the friendly tone suits the purpose. The description of the house is more specific than the account of your activities: you mention preparing meals, but give little detail about what else you do during your stay. The invitation could also be made more concrete by suggesting a possible date or activity. These details would extend the ideas more fully while retaining the relevant content already present.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The information is arranged in a sensible sequence: the opening introduces the rental, the next paragraph describes the house, and the following paragraphs cover the setting and invitation. Paragraphing helps the reader follow the letter, and links such as “Additionally” and “as” make relationships between ideas clear. Some connections are less smooth, however. “The atmosphere is quiet relaxing” moves abruptly into the sounds of the waves, while the final paragraph combines the time since you last met, the invitation, and arrangements in a long sequence. Use clearer transitions and divide or reshape that closing sequence so each idea leads naturally to the next. Overall, the organisation is coherent, though cohesion is not consistently flexible.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range for a friendly letter and attempt more descriptive language, including “hustle and bustle,” “cool breeze,” and “eye catching view.” These choices help convey the setting, although some less common expressions are not natural in context: “rented a tenancy” and “aesthetic vibes” are awkward, and “masterpiece” overstates a description of a holiday house. There are also spelling and word-form slips, such as “rhythemic” and “Tv.” Choose familiar, precise collocations rather than reaching for elevated wording—for example, “rented a house near the lake” and “the rhythmic sound of the waves.” This would make the description sound more fluent and appropriately informal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The letter includes a mix of simple and complex forms, such as the relative clause “which blows more frequently” and the reason clause “as it is away from the hustle and bustle.” Most meaning remains clear, but some grammatical errors are noticeable. In “a eye catching view,” the article should be “an”; “It has been a long time since we meet” needs a past-tense form (“met”); and “invite you at my new place” requires a different preposition pattern (“invite you to”). The sentence beginning “The atmosphere is quiet relaxing” also needs a grammatical link, such as “quiet and relaxing.” Check articles, verb tense after “since,” and sentence construction to improve accuracy while keeping the range of structures.
