Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Sam!

I hope you must be doing splendidly! Today, I want to share something exciting with you, and it is about my accommodation. As you already knew, I was searching a new home to rent. Guess what! I've got a extremely beautiful house which is located nearby a lake, giving an amazing combined view of woods and water from balcony. It has four rooms with attached washrooms, a well-furnished kitchen, and a quite big driveway where 3-4 cars can be easily parked.

When I rented this property, I was a little worried about the amount of rent. However, now, I feel paying 3500 dollars per month is worthy. I stand in my balcony whenever I want to enjoy the vibe of nature, and it gives me a kind of pleasure.

Not only do I write to you to inform about my new place, but I also want you to visit me on this weekend. I want to spend some quality time with you while touring my house. Also, if you get some extra time, we can go for fishing on the lake which is nearby my house.

Best regards,

Abhishek

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The letter covers all three requested points: you describe the lakeside house, explain how you enjoy the balcony and nature, and invite Sam to visit and go fishing. The details about four rooms, the kitchen, parking and rent make the description specific, while the invitation is clear. This meets the task well. However, the account of how you spend your time is less developed than the description of the property: standing on the balcony and possibly fishing are the only activities mentioned. Add a little more about your daily routine or other things you have done by the lake, and make the proposed visit more definite by suggesting dates or arrangements. That would make the ideas more fully extended.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0

The information follows a clear, sensible progression: you introduce the news, describe the house and your experience there, then invite Sam. Paragraph breaks help distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “However,” “Not only,” and “Also” guide the reader through the letter. The overall organisation is easy to follow. Some connections are less natural or slightly mechanical, particularly “Not only do I write to you to inform about my new place,” which repeats the purpose already established in the opening. The letter would flow more smoothly if you moved directly from describing your stay to the invitation, using a simple transition such as “I’d love you to come and see it.”

Lexical Resource: Band 6.5

You use a suitable range of vocabulary to describe the setting and accommodation, including “well-furnished kitchen,” “driveway,” and “vibe of nature.” These choices make the letter personal and generally clear, and the reader can understand the intended meaning throughout. Some collocations and word choices are less natural, however: “a extremely beautiful house,” “combined view,” “paying 3500 dollars per month is worthy,” and “touring my house” do not sound idiomatic in this context. Aim for more precise, natural phrases such as “a stunning house,” “a view of the woods and lake,” “worth the rent,” and “showing you around.” This would improve fluency and control without changing your friendly tone.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5

The letter includes a mix of simple and more complex structures, such as “When I rented this property, I was a little worried…” and “Not only do I write…, but I also want…”. Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly, and the past and present forms are generally understandable. Some grammatical errors remain, including “I hope you must be doing” instead of a natural present-progressive greeting, “As you already knew” where the past form does not fit, and “a extremely,” which has an article error. There are also missing articles in “from balcony” and “go for fishing.” Review article use and choose verb forms that match the time and meaning. More consistently accurate complex sentences would strengthen the control shown here.
