Student answer (Band 5.0)
Dear Raman,
I am writing this letter regarding renting my house during the summer. It is a double-story house with a beautiful lawn, a spacious kitchen area, as well as a living room and play area. In this house has a two bedroom at upsatrir and one bed room upstair with full bathroom. All facilities are available there.I usually spend my time there doing a lot of activities, such as playing outdoor games, sometimes i do meditation and walk on the lawn. I invite to come my house and look my house. We do a lot things overthere. We spent a lot of time together.\
Best regards,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0
You address the three requested points in a basic way: you describe the house as “double-story” with a lawn and kitchen, mention activities such as games and meditation, and invite Raman to visit. However, the invitation is not clearly developed, and details about how you spend your time are brief. The description of the bedrooms is also difficult to understand. The response is 41 words below the required minimum, so it does not provide enough detail to cover the task fully. To improve, explain what makes the house pleasant, give examples of your daily routine, and make the invitation specific by suggesting when your friend could come and what you could do together.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The ideas follow a generally sensible order: the house is described first, followed by activities and an invitation. This gives the reader a basic structure, and the closing is appropriate for a friendly letter. However, the response is presented as one continuous paragraph, so the different purposes are not clearly separated. Connections between ideas are also limited; for example, “I invite to come my house” is followed by “We do a lot things overthere” without explaining what the visit would involve. Use separate paragraphs for the house, your activities, and the invitation, and add simple linking phrases such as “In the mornings” or “If you visit, we could…” to make the progression clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use enough basic vocabulary to communicate the main topics, including “spacious,” “lawn,” “outdoor games,” and “meditation.” However, the range is limited, and several word choices or combinations sound unnatural or unclear, such as “look my house,” “play area,” and “a lot things.” There are also spelling and form issues, including “upsatrir” and “overthere,” which make parts of the description harder to follow. Aim for more precise phrases that suit a friendly letter, such as describing the house as “a two-storey home” or saying you “spend time relaxing outdoors.” Check spelling and use natural combinations of words when describing rooms and activities.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response relies mainly on short, simple statements, with little variety in sentence structure. Several grammatical errors occur and sometimes make meaning difficult to follow. For example, “In this house has a two bedroom” lacks a clear subject and has incorrect number agreement; “I invite to come my house” is missing the object and uses an incomplete verb pattern. There are also errors in articles and sentence boundaries, as in “one bed room upstair with full bathroom” and “there.I usually.” Practise complete sentence patterns such as “The house has…” and “I’d like to invite you to…” Then check articles, plural forms, and punctuation before submitting.
