Student answer (Band 5.5)
Dear Max,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to share an excitement news with you. In this summer I rented an apartment near Lakeview. I will be more happy if you could come to my house in this summer vacation.
In addition, this apartment includes three rooms with a substantial living room. Moreover, you could also get a swimming pool and a park in backyard. we can play football in a ground as well. This place is friendly and peaceful environment where you can spend your best time with me.
Although, I have television in apartment where we can play a video game. I know you are passionate about gaming so, you could play. it is been a long time since we met. So, this would be the best time to join me in the summer with a beautiful apartment near the lake.
waiting to hearing from you with your response. Take care.
Your friend,
Keya Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you describe the rented place and its facilities, mention gaming and football, and invite Max to visit. The friendly tone and personal reference to how long it has been since you met suit a letter to a friend. However, some parts are less fully developed than others. The house description gives a few features, but it is unclear whether this is an apartment or a house, and details about the lake itself are limited. Your account of how you spend your time is also brief; explain more about your usual activities or daily routine. A clearer, more specific invitation, such as suggesting dates or an activity together, would make the purpose more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The letter has a recognisable opening, body paragraphs and closing, and the ideas are generally grouped by topic: first the invitation, then the accommodation, followed by activities. This gives the reader an overall sense of the message. However, progression is sometimes mechanical, with repeated connectors such as “Moreover,” “Although,” and “So,” and “Although” does not introduce a clear contrast in its paragraph. The shift from describing the apartment to the pool, park and football ground could be linked more naturally. Some references are also unclear, such as “this place” and “it” in the gaming sentence. Use fewer formulaic transitions and connect each detail directly to the invitation or your plans.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “substantial living room,” “peaceful environment,” and “passionate about gaming.” These choices show an attempt to go beyond very basic wording. However, several word combinations and expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, which limits precision: “an excitement news,” “in this summer vacation,” and “a ground” do not sound idiomatic in context. “Apartment” and “house” are also used for the same rented place, making the description less precise. Choose natural collocations and keep the key noun consistent. For example, describe the property as a “rental house” throughout, and use familiar expressions such as “summer holiday” and “football pitch.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentence forms, including “I know you are passionate about gaming so, you could play” and “it is been a long time since we met.” The message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. Examples include “I will be more happy if you could come,” where the conditional forms do not match, and “it is been,” which needs the correct auxiliary form. There are also errors in articles and sentence boundaries, as in “in apartment” and the lowercase “we” after a full stop. The final phrase “waiting to hearing” also has an incorrect verb pattern. Practise conditional sentences, auxiliary verbs and gerund/infinitive patterns, then proofread capitalization and punctuation.
