Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear priya,
I hope you are enjoying your vacations with family.
I want to share my feelings about my trip. It is an amazing experience as i have rented a house by a lake. It is a well maintained spacious house with exceptional facilities. Luckily, seeing the lake view from the balcony is the bestest part where I really feel peace, and you know water always uplift my mood.
Meanwhile, time is going so fast here. I feel I am enjoying the best thing of my life. Also, there are numerious water activities to do so. Last evening, I did parasailing that was exceptional.
I am inviting you to come here and enjoy with me. I am saying this thing confidently that we both will enjoy a lot while doing such kind of activities.
I hope you will manage your time as I saw we have still 15 days left prior to your classes.
your friend,

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three points: you describe the house and its lake-facing balcony, mention activities such as parasailing, and invite Priya to visit before her classes begin. The invitation is clear and the reference to the remaining 15 days gives it a practical reason. The description and account of your time, however, are less fully developed: details such as “exceptional facilities” and “water activities” remain general, and only one specific activity is given. Add a couple of concrete details about the house and what you do each day, and make the invitation more specific by suggesting when your friend could come or what you could do together. The friendly purpose is clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a coherent overall arrangement: it opens with a greeting, moves from the house to your activities, and ends with an invitation and sign-off. Connectors such as “Meanwhile” and “Also” help signal the movement between ideas. Some links feel mechanical or do not express the relationship precisely; “Meanwhile” is not a natural transition from describing the house to discussing your time there, and “I am saying this thing confidently” interrupts the flow of the invitation. Paragraphing is also limited, with several distinct points grouped together. Use separate paragraphs for the house, your activities, and the invitation, and link details more naturally so the progression feels smoother.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for a friendly letter, including relevant expressions such as “spacious house,” “lake view,” “balcony,” and “parasailing.” These details make the setting and activity understandable, and your meaning remains clear. There are, however, some inaccurate or unnatural choices that limit precision: “bestest part” is not standard in this context, “water always uplift my mood” has an awkward collocation, and “numerious” is misspelled. Phrases such as “share my feelings about my trip” and “this thing” are also vague. Aim for natural collocations and more precise wording—for example, describe the view as “the best part” and say that the water “always lifts my spirits.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the clause beginning “where I really feel peace” and the sentence explaining that 15 days remain before your friend’s classes. The main ideas are generally understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “as i have rented” needs a capital “I” and a more suitable tense in this context; “water always uplift my mood” has a subject–verb agreement error; and “I feel I am enjoying” is awkwardly formed. The closing “your friend” also needs a capital letter if treated as a sign-off. Review agreement, tense choice, and sentence construction, while keeping the useful variety of sentence forms you are attempting.
