Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sam,
I hope you are doing well. I just want to let you know that I rented a house near the lake for this summer, and I want you to visit and stay with me during our summer holiday.
Let me tell you more about the property. It is a spacious 3-bedroom house with an open backyard and is surrounded by quiet farms. The location is so beautiful and the lake makes this house so perfect. Additionally, I have enough space for parking, as my driveway can accommodate more than 3 cars.
I have planned everything on how I am gonna spend my time there. First of all, I got the license for fishing. Although fishing is prohibited in some places, this place allows such type of activities.
As I mentioned, the backyard is quite huge; we can arrange a barbecue.
I really appreciate if you will come, it's your vacation too. I suggest you visit, as I am very amazed by the place and its beauty. I guarantee you will not disappointed.
Hoping to see you soon.
Yours lovingly,
Azim

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address all three requested points: the house is described as a spacious three-bedroom property near the lake, you mention fishing and a possible barbecue, and you invite Sam to stay. The friendly tone and personal details make the letter relevant. The description of how you will spend your time is less fully developed, however: fishing and a barbecue are mentioned, but you could add specific plans or explain what makes these activities appealing. The invitation is clear, though “I really appreciate if you will come” does not express it naturally or confidently. More developed details and a clearer, more direct invitation would make the response feel more complete and purposeful.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening and invitation, a paragraph about the property, a paragraph about activities, and a closing. Sequencing phrases such as “First of all” and “As I mentioned” help connect the ideas, and the reader can follow the message without difficulty. Some linking is a little mechanical, and the final paragraph repeats the invitation and praise for the location rather than adding a distinct closing idea. The reference in “As I mentioned” is understandable but not especially precise. To strengthen progression, connect the activities more smoothly and use the final paragraph to make practical arrangements, such as suggesting dates or asking Sam to confirm.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a friendly letter, including descriptive terms such as “spacious,” “surrounded by quiet farms,” and “accommodate.” These details communicate the setting clearly, and the meaning remains accessible throughout. Some choices are less natural or precise, including “such type of activities,” “I am very amazed,” and “I guarantee you will not disappointed.” The repeated use of “beautiful” and “perfect” also limits the variety of description. Aim for more natural collocations and a few precise terms for the scenery and activities; this would make the letter sound more fluent and expressive while retaining its informal tone.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and more complex forms, including the relative clause in “a house … that …” and the concessive sentence beginning “Although fishing is prohibited.” Most sentences communicate their meaning clearly. Some grammatical errors remain, however: “I really appreciate if you will come” needs a more suitable verb pattern, and “you will not disappointed” is missing “be.” “I have planned everything on how I am gonna spend my time” is also awkwardly constructed. In addition, “I guarantee you will not disappointed” would benefit from clearer clause structure. Review verb patterns, auxiliary verbs, and sentence construction, while keeping the useful variety of sentence forms you already attempt.
