Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining how the bag was lost, describing the bag, and requesting assistance. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a manager, although the opening and closing salutations are slightly inconsistent with the prompt's instructions. The ideas are relevant and clear, though the development is somewhat brief. To improve, you could provide more specific details about the taxi journey, such as the drop-off location or the specific time, to help the manager locate the item more efficiently.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. However, the use of cohesive devices is quite limited and sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition between sentences like 'Then I remember I forgot my bag' is abrupt. The flow could be improved by using a wider range of linking words such as 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'in addition' to connect ideas more smoothly. Paragraphing is present but could be more distinct to separate the description of the bag from the request for help.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message, but it is somewhat repetitive and basic. Phrases like 'I really need my bag' and 'very important document' are used multiple times, which limits the range. There are also some minor word-choice errors, such as 'I book a can' instead of 'I booked a cab' and 'I cannot afford to loose' instead of 'lose.' To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to travel and lost property, such as 'misplaced,' 'belongings,' or 'essential documentation.'
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses ('I book a can' instead of 'booked') and subject-verb agreement ('I realize' instead of 'realized'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing capital letters at the start of sentences and errors in the closing salutation ('Your's' instead of 'Yours'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall clarity and professionalism of the letter.
