Dear Sir,
I am writing to ask the help for looking my bag that I forgot in your taxi.
To begin with, yesterday, I booked a taxi by your company from Toronto to Timmins. The colour of the taxi was black. When I sit in the cab, I had a bag with me, but when I arrived at home I noticed that I lost my bag. After some time, I remembered that I forgot my bag in taxi.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points required by the prompt: explaining how the bag was lost, describing the bag, and requesting assistance. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a company manager. However, the letter ends abruptly mid-sentence, which leaves the final request incomplete. While the content is relevant, the lack of a proper closing and the unfinished final sentence prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure you complete your thoughts and include a standard formal sign-off such as 'Yours faithfully' or 'Yours sincerely' to fully satisfy the conventions of a formal letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, each focusing on a specific aspect of the task. You have used some basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with' and 'Furthermore' to link your ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by repetitive phrasing, such as the frequent use of 'the bag' at the start of sentences. The abrupt ending of the letter significantly impacts the overall coherence, as the final paragraph is left incomplete. To improve, try to vary your sentence starters and ensure that your ideas are fully developed before moving to the next paragraph.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the bag, such as 'decorated', 'pockets', and 'important documents'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'ask the help for looking my bag' (should be 'ask for help in locating my bag') and 'size about 3 inch width' (should be 'about 3 inches wide'). The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. Focusing on correct preposition usage and more natural collocations will help improve your lexical score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as tense inconsistencies ('When I sit in the cab' instead of 'When I was sitting') and missing articles or incorrect verb forms ('I noticed that I lost my bag' instead of 'I had lost my bag'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete final sentence is a major error in structure. To improve, pay closer attention to verb tenses when narrating past events and ensure that your sentences are complete and grammatically sound before moving on.
