Dear Sir or Madam,

I hope this letter finds you well. My name is Vaishali Juneja. I am writing this letter to bring a concern to your attention.

Yesterday when I was travelling through a taxi to my home, I think I forgot my bag in the taxi. I took the ride from Strasburg to Cambridge location around 5pm. I was in a rush, as I had to join an online meeting and because of it, I by-mistake left my bag in the car.

My bag was black in color, with white strips, and with a logo of Coach at the front the side. Unfortunately, I don't remember the taxi number.

I would really appreciate it if you can contact the taxi driver to ask, if he was able to find any black bag in his car.

I have attached my phone number with the email, if you get any response, kindly update me as soon as possible as it contain my bank cards and some of my important documents.

Yours faithfully

Vaishali

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: explaining the loss, describing the bag, and requesting assistance. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a company manager. The ideas are clearly presented, and the purpose of the letter is evident from the start. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific details, such as the approximate time of arrival or the specific route taken, to help the manager narrow down the search. Overall, the task is fully addressed in a clear and relevant manner.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5

The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a formal closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow the narrative easily. You use basic cohesive devices like 'Yesterday', 'Unfortunately', and 'as a result' (implied) to link ideas. To improve, you could use a wider variety of linking words and transition phrases to make the flow between sentences more sophisticated. Currently, the progression is clear, but some transitions feel slightly mechanical.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task. Phrases like 'bring a concern to your attention' and 'I would really appreciate it' are appropriate for a formal context. However, there are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'travelling through a taxi' (should be 'in a taxi') and 'by-mistake' (which is not standard usage). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more precise collocations would elevate the quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'travelling through a taxi' and 'it contain' (should be 'it contains'). Additionally, the phrase 'at the front the side' is slightly awkward. Despite these errors, your control of grammar is generally good, and the mistakes do not impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and preposition usage in formal writing.
