Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response covers all three bullet points: explaining how the bag was lost, describing the bag, and requesting assistance. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of the ideas. The explanation of the loss is brief, and the description of the bag lacks sufficient detail to be truly helpful in a real-world scenario. To improve, you must expand on each point by adding relevant details, such as the time of the ride, the taxi number or license plate, and the specific route taken. The current length prevents a higher score as the task is only partially addressed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is very short, making it difficult to demonstrate a range of cohesive devices. While the ideas are presented in a logical order, the lack of paragraphing is a significant issue. A formal letter should have clear paragraph breaks between the introduction, the body paragraphs (explaining the loss and describing the bag), and the closing. The transition between sentences is somewhat abrupt due to the brevity of the text. Using more linking words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition' would help improve the flow and logical progression of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary used is functional but basic. You successfully identified the item ('channel bag', 'charms', 'key chain'), but the range is limited. There are some minor errors, such as 'channel' instead of 'Chanel' (assuming the brand) and the repetitive use of 'important'. To achieve a higher band score, you should aim to use more precise and varied vocabulary. For example, instead of saying 'I was in a hurry', you could use 'I was pressed for time'. Expanding your vocabulary will help you convey your message more effectively and professionally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The grammar is generally understandable, but there are several issues with punctuation and sentence structure. For instance, there are comma splices, such as 'My name is Mehak, I booked a taxi...', which should be two separate sentences or joined with a conjunction. Additionally, there are missing articles and capitalization errors (e.g., 'sir' should be 'Sir'). The sentence structures are mostly simple. To improve, you should practice using a mix of complex sentences and ensure that your punctuation is accurate, particularly regarding sentence boundaries and formal letter conventions.
