Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0

The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: explaining how the bag was lost, describing the bag, and requesting assistance. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a company manager. The information is clear and logically presented, ensuring the reader understands the situation and the specific items lost. The purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning, and the closing is professional. To reach a higher band, you could provide slightly more detail regarding the specific taxi (e.g., the taxi number or the company name) to help the manager identify the vehicle more easily.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is well-organized with a clear structure. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow the narrative easily. The use of paragraphing is appropriate. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat basic. While the flow is logical, the transition between sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition to this'). The referencing is generally clear, though some minor mechanical errors in punctuation slightly disrupt the flow of the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'recovering', 'assistance', and 'operating'. However, there are several spelling errors ('bad' instead of 'bag', 'tuseday', 'unfortunatly', 'greatful', 'opretaing', 'rout', 'phon', 'e,ail') and some word choice issues ('leptop', 'conation'). These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable, although they do not prevent the reader from understanding the message. To improve, focus on proofreading for common spelling mistakes and ensuring that technical terms are spelled correctly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses ('I completely forget' instead of 'I completely forgot') and articles ('a personal bad'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before commas and periods. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently throughout the text. To achieve a higher score, you should focus on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage, as well as refining your punctuation habits to ensure they follow standard English conventions.
