Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Sir,
My name is Abhishek B. I am writing this letter to report an incident about my lost bag. Yesterday, I booked a taxi at 6 pm from your company for an airport drop. The taxi number is: 1AX 460, and the driver name is Rohit.
As I was late for my flight, while unloading my luggage, I missed collecting my laptop bag which I had kept under the front passenger seat. By the time, I came back to check with driver, he was gone.
My laptop bag is red color, with my first name printed on front side in bold. This bag has three compartments inside, one has my Apple laptop ,and remaining compartments has two files which are utmost important to me.
I kindly request your help in relocating my laptop bag at the earliest.
Best regards,
Abhishek B

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
You have addressed all three bullet points: explaining how the bag was lost, describing the bag, and requesting assistance. However, the response is under the 150-word minimum requirement, which negatively impacts the task achievement score. While the content is relevant and the purpose of the letter is clear, the development of ideas is somewhat brief. To improve, you should expand on the details, perhaps by mentioning the specific time you arrived at your destination or adding a polite closing sentence regarding how you can be contacted if the bag is found.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your narrative. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'As I was' and 'By the time', which are appropriate for this task. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider range of linking words and ensure that the transition between the description of the bag and the request for help is smoother.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have used a sufficient range of vocabulary to communicate your message effectively. Words like 'incident', 'unloading', and 'compartments' are appropriate for the context. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'relocating my laptop bag' (the word 'locating' or 'recovering' would be more natural here) and 'red color' (should be 'red in color' or 'a red bag'). Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise descriptive terms would enhance your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are some grammatical errors, such as 'driver name is Rohit' (missing 'the' and possessive 'driver's') and 'remaining compartments has' (subject-verb agreement error: 'have'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some spacing issues around commas. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as these small errors occur frequently enough to prevent a higher band score.
