Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir,
I am reaching out to regarding to you my bag which I left during the ride which I booked last night its 10 August,2026 around 9:00pm from my workplace to home. After the busy day I was in rush to reach home so because of that I didn't notice that I forgot my bag in your taxi even I didn't notice the driver name and driver name.
My bag is black in color and it has two pocket in the front and there are some makeup products inside the bag and also my house and office key in front pocket which is significant for me.
Could you please check with your drivers who took the ride last night in that area. I would appreciate it If you could help to find out my bag. I am willing to pay courier expense.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to your response.
Yours faithfully,
Amrita

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response covers all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explained how the bag was lost, provided a description of the item, and included a request for assistance. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, while you mention the bag contains makeup and keys, adding a bit more detail about the specific brand or a unique feature could have made the description more vivid. Overall, the task is fulfilled effectively, and the purpose of the letter is clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'After the busy day' and 'Could you please' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by repetitive phrasing and some awkward transitions, such as 'so because of that'. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that referencing (e.g., using 'it' or 'the latter') is more precise to avoid repeating nouns like 'bag' or 'driver' too frequently.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully conveying your message. You use some relevant terms like 'workplace', 'consideration', and 'courier expense'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies and word-choice issues, such as 'reaching out to regarding to you' and 'driver name and driver name'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more sophisticated collocations would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical slips, such as 'its 10 August' (should be 'it was'), 'two pocket' (should be 'two pockets'), and 'I didn't notice the driver name and driver name'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage and capitalization. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your request, they occur frequently enough to keep the score in the mid-range. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and pluralization will improve your accuracy.
