Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter covers all three bullet points required by the task: explaining how the bag was lost, describing the bag, and requesting assistance. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter to a manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the description of the bag is brief, and the explanation of the loss could be more clearly linked to the specific taxi journey. Despite this, the purpose of the letter is clear, and all parts of the prompt are addressed, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. There is a clear progression from the incident to the description and finally the request for help. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Because of all this stress', 'Moreover'). The transition between sentences could be smoother to improve the flow. While the overall arrangement is coherent, the limited range of linking words and occasional awkward phrasing keep this in the Band 6.0 range.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey the necessary information clearly. There are some attempts at more specific vocabulary, such as 'Important project meeting' and 'assist me', but the range is limited. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'request about finding' instead of 'request assistance in finding' or 'I forget' instead of 'I forgot'. Spelling is generally accurate, but the overall lexical range is basic, which is consistent with a Band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I forget' (tense error), 'go my work' (missing preposition), 'I was so panic' (incorrect word form), and 'which causing' (missing auxiliary verb). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication, as the reader can easily understand the intended meaning. The punctuation is generally functional, though the letter would benefit from more careful proofreading to address these recurring grammatical slips.
