Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Sir/Madam,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter for requesting you to help me find my bag that i forgot in one of taxi of your company.
To be honest, your company 'uber ride' is very popular when it comes to taxi. The service you provides is the best. I usually use Uber Taxi whenever i have to go somewhere. Before two days i had to go to the hospital in emergency because my friend had a accident. Therefore, I got a call from hospital and i booked the cab and as soon as i reached the hospital i left my bag in the car as i was worried about my friend.
My bag was brown in colour and had an kitchen of Shinchan cartoon character on it. There was a flower printed pattern on it.
I would be glad if you help me to find my luggage. I remember the car was of black colour and the company was Honda. It is essential for me to get the bag cause there are some important documents in it.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused. I look forward hearing from you.
Yours sincerely,
Kiya Patel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter addresses all three bullet points: explaining how the bag was lost, describing it, and requesting assistance. The tone is generally appropriate for a formal letter. However, the development of ideas is slightly uneven. For instance, the description of the bag is a bit simplistic, and the explanation of the loss could be more concise. While the task requirements are met, the response lacks the level of detail and professional polish expected at higher bands. The inclusion of irrelevant information about the company's popularity is unnecessary and detracts slightly from the focus of the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the narrative. There is a basic use of cohesive devices such as 'Therefore' and 'As soon as', but the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs is functional, but the overall structure could benefit from more sophisticated linking words. Referencing is generally clear, though the repetition of 'the bag' and 'the company' could be improved through better use of pronouns or synonyms to enhance the flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. There are some noticeable errors in word choice, such as 'kitchen' instead of 'keychain' and 'a accident' instead of 'an accident'. The phrase 'Before two days' is unnatural; 'Two days ago' would be more appropriate. While the student attempts to use some descriptive language, the range is limited, and the errors occasionally draw attention. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on more accurate collocations and avoid basic spelling or word-choice mistakes.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'I am writing this letter for requesting' (should be 'to request'), 'one of taxi' (should be 'one of the taxis'), and 'I look forward hearing' (should be 'I look forward to hearing'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are issues with article usage and verb forms. While these errors do not prevent the message from being understood, they are frequent enough to limit the score. More attention to subject-verb agreement and prepositional phrases is needed.
