Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points required by the prompt. You clearly explained how the bag was lost, provided a detailed description of the item, and included a request for assistance. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a company manager. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, ensuring the reader understands the situation and the necessary steps to resolve it. You have fulfilled the requirements of the task effectively, maintaining a consistent focus throughout the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized into distinct paragraphs, each serving a clear purpose. The progression of ideas is easy to follow, moving from the incident to the description and finally to the request for help. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Moreover' and 'Actually', to link your thoughts. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that transitions between sentences are smoother. The paragraphing is sufficient and appropriate for a formal letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'personal issues' and 'necessary details' are used correctly. However, there are some minor inaccuracies and repetitive phrasing, such as 'I have a... bag' and 'In my bag'. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more varied and precise vocabulary related to lost property and formal correspondence. The current level is sufficient for the task, but lacks the flexibility and sophistication required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'the lost of my bag' (should be 'the loss'), 'reached at home' (should be 'reached home'), and 'do not feel hesitate' (should be 'do not hesitate'). Punctuation is generally functional, though some comma usage is slightly awkward. The errors do not impede communication, but they indicate a need for more careful proofreading and a better grasp of verb forms and prepositional usage.
