Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You successfully covered all three bullet points required in the prompt. You explained how you lost your bag by mentioning the taxi ride, the urgent call, and your hurried exit at the venue. You described your bag as being white with a long sling, large capacity, two compartments, and a golden zip, while also noting its contents like your ATM and credit cards. Finally, you clearly asked the manager to help you find and return it. Your ideas are relevant and appropriate for a general task 1 letter. However, the greeting 'Dear manager,' is slightly less formal than standard IELTS conventions (such as 'Dear Sir or Madam,'), and some details like the reason for the rush are a bit repetitive, placing this response comfortably at Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear purpose established in the opening sentence. You attempted to use cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'However', and 'Since', although some are used slightly unnaturally or inaccurately, such as starting a sentence with 'Since,' to introduce reasons containing vital items. Paragraphing is attempted to separate the introduction, body details, and conclusion, though paragraph breaks are occasionally missing or placed awkwardly (such as the greeting and opening line formatting). Referencing is generally clear, but the logical progression between sentences occasionally feels disjointed due to punctuation errors and abrupt transitions, resulting in a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
Your vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to describe the bag and the situation effectively using words like 'compartments', 'capacity', and 'documents'. You made several attempts at less common vocabulary, but some word choices and collocations are inaccurate, such as 'golden zip is also attached with this bag' instead of 'fitted with a gold zipper', and 'recieved a urgent call' (spelling error). There are also phrasing issues such as 'There is a birthday party of friend'. These lexical limitations and errors indicate a solid Band 5.5 to 6.0 level.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrated a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'I would appreciate it if you could return my bag as soon as possible.' However, there are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors throughout the text, including sentence fragments and comma splices ('In addition, when I reached at party venue. I was in hurry...'). Other errors include preposition misuse ('reached at' instead of 'reached the') and subject-verb/tense issues ('I forget' instead of 'I forgot'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the score from reaching Band 6.0, fitting the Band 5.5 descriptor well.
