Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Manager,
I am really worried and stressful while writing this letter to lodge an objection and ask for your intervention beacuse I forgot my hand-bag in you taxi during my last night reservation.
To begin with, I booked a cab from your mobile app from my house to a nearby grocery store. Unfortunately, I was carrying plenty of shopping bags, therefore I forgot my brown-coloured handbag in your taxi. All my valuable and precious products are in my bag, for instance, all my credit cards and my passport.
As a manager of such a reputed company I am requesting for your assistance to locate my bag. This handbag was gifted to me by my husband and holds a vital place in my heart. You can contact me on same email and contact number as provided in your app.
I sincerely appreciate you attention to this matter.
Yours faithfully,
Tarspreet

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully covers all the required bullet points of the prompt, fulfilling the core requirements for this level. You clearly explain how the bag was lost by mentioning your mobile app booking and carrying grocery bags, and you describe the bag as brown-coloured containing valuable items like credit cards and a passport. Furthermore, you effectively ask the manager for assistance. However, some ideas remain slightly under-developed; for example, the explanation of the loss and the description could have been extended with more specific contextual details to fully reach the higher standards. The overall tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a manager, and all parts of the task are adequately addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter maintains a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical progression from explaining the situation to describing the item and finally requesting help. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different ideas, such as using distinct sections for the incident itself and the appeal for assistance. However, cohesion is at times a bit mechanical or faulty, as seen in transition phrases like 'To begin with' which are used somewhat rigidly. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional shifts in logical flow prevent the piece from achieving a smoother, more seamless integration of ideas. Overall, the structure is easy to follow and meets the organizational requirements well.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
An adequate range of vocabulary is demonstrated for the task, successfully communicating the necessary details. You attempt some less common vocabulary, such as 'intervention', 'reputed', and 'assistance', which shows a good effort to vary your word choice. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and phrasing, such as writing 'stressful' instead of 'stressed' and 'in you taxi' (which also features a typographical error), as well as 'appreciation you attention' instead of 'your attention'. While these lexical and spelling slips are noticeable, they do not seriously impede communication and remain manageable for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an ability to construct multi-clause sentences such as 'Unfortunately, I was carrying plenty of shopping bags, therefore I forgot my brown-coloured handbag in your taxi.' There are some errors in grammar and punctuation present throughout the text, including prepositions and word forms, such as saying 'beacuse I forgot' and 'on same email'. Despite these grammatical inaccuracies, they rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. You exhibit control over basic structures while attempting more ambitious complex patterns with reasonable success.
