Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three required points: you explain that you left the bag after using your laptop, describe it as black and leather with a Nike tag and a water bottle in its side pocket, and ask the manager to help locate it. The importance of the laptop also gives a clear reason for your request. These relevant details make the purpose of the letter clear throughout. To make the response more fully developed, include practical information that could help the company trace the journey, such as the approximate time of the ride, pickup or drop-off details, or a request to contact the driver. A more specific request about how the manager should respond would also strengthen the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The information follows a sensible order: you introduce the ride, explain how the bag was left behind, describe it, and make your request. This gives the letter an overall coherent arrangement. However, most of the response is presented as one paragraph, so the explanation, description, and request are not visually separated. Several links are also mechanical or unclear, particularly the repeated use of “So” and the sequence beginning “I was using my laptop…”. Use two or three paragraphs and connect events more precisely—for example, “After finishing my work, I put the laptop away; when I got home, I realised I had left the bag in the taxi.” This would make progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use enough vocabulary to communicate the situation and identify the bag, including “leather,” “side pocket,” and “appropriate action.” However, the range is limited and some choices or spellings reduce the naturalness of the letter: “ride was so convenient” is not especially useful detail, while “Nike tag” could be expressed more precisely as a Nike logo or label. There are also noticeable spelling errors such as “Actuallly,” “Everthing,” and “convienient,” and informal phrasing such as “So Its my request.” These do not prevent understanding, but careful proofreading and more precise service-related vocabulary would improve control and style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter communicates its meaning, and you attempt to link events with clauses such as “when I reached at my home” and “when I done with my work.” However, some errors in verb forms, articles, prepositions, and sentence boundaries make the writing less accurate. For example, “I book a ride” should use the past form, “I booked a ride,” and “when I done” needs an auxiliary: “when I was done” or “when I had finished.” The sentence beginning “It has Nike tag on it. and there is…” also has faulty punctuation and capitalization. Practise accurate past-tense narration and combine related ideas into complete sentences; this will help you use a wider range of structures more reliably.
