Dear Sir
Iam wriring to formally enquire about the bag i lost in one of your taxies that i took yesterday from my office which is located in Scarborough to home.
The clour of my bag is black and its a formal backpack which has my two books , a pen, my red lunchbox and blue waterbottle as well.
The main concern is, i have an exam coming nearly next week and that books are my only study resources. I would really appreciate it if you could help me to find out the bag as soon as possible.
I trust this matter will be resolver promptly as customer rights.
Thank you for your attention. I expect a response within a reasonable time. If you need any further information, please contact me at email.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address all three points: you explain that the bag was left after a taxi journey from your office to home, describe it as a black formal backpack and list its contents, and ask the manager to help locate it. The exam and study-book details give a relevant reason for urgency. However, the account of how the bag was lost is brief; explain that you left it in the taxi when getting out, if that is what happened. The request could also be more specific, such as asking the company to check with the driver or contact you if the bag is found. The response is 14 words below the required minimum, so it needs more development to meet the task fully. The closing is polite, though “customer rights” is unclear in this context.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear overall arrangement: it introduces the lost item, describes it, explains why it matters, and ends with a request and closing. Paragraph breaks help the reader follow these stages, and links such as “The main concern is” and “Thank you for your attention” make the purpose apparent. To make the progression more natural, connect the journey details directly to the moment you noticed the bag was missing, then move to its description and the action you want the company to take. The final lines repeat the expectation of a response (“I expect a response within a reasonable time”) after already asking for help. A more direct closing request would improve cohesion and avoid this slight repetition.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the situation, including “formally enquire,” “formal backpack,” “study resources,” and “further information.” The specific colours and contents make the description clear. There are, however, several spelling and word-choice errors that reduce precision, such as “clour,” “taxies,” and “resolver.” Some phrases are also unnatural or unclear: “find out the bag” would be better expressed as “locate the bag,” while “as customer rights” does not communicate a clear meaning. Choose conventional language for a formal complaint or enquiry, and check spelling carefully. These improvements would make your message sound more accurate and appropriately formal without requiring more elaborate vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple sentences and some longer structures, for example the sentence explaining that the books are needed for an exam. The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. In “Iam wriring to formally enquire,” the words need separation and the spelling should be checked; “i lost” also needs a capital “I.” The phrase “that books are my only study resources” needs a plural demonstrative (“those books”), and “contact me at email” needs a more complete grammatical pattern, such as “contact me by email.” The sentence “I trust this matter will be resolver promptly” also has an incorrect verb form. Proofread articles, demonstratives, verb forms, and sentence punctuation, while retaining the longer sentence structures you have attempted.
