Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You address the main situation and include useful identifying details: the taxi’s colour, model and registration, as well as the bag’s appearance and contents. You also ask the manager to help locate it. However, the explanation of how the bag was lost is incomplete: you say you left the office and took a taxi, but do not explain that you realised the bag was missing after arriving home or how it may have been left behind. The request to post details in a WhatsApp group is also less direct than asking the company to contact the driver and check the vehicle. The response is 114 words, below the required 150, so the task is only partially developed. Add these details and a clear contact request.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The letter has a clear overall arrangement: an opening that states its purpose, a paragraph with the journey and bag details, and a final request. This makes the message easy to follow, and the sequence from the taxi ride to the search request is broadly logical. The cohesion is not yet fully flexible, however. The second paragraph combines the taxi description and the bag’s contents in a compressed sequence, while the final request does not clearly connect to the company’s practical next steps. Develop the events in order and use linking phrases such as “When I arrived home” and “Could you therefore contact the driver?” A separate closing would also make the letter’s structure more complete.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of task-related vocabulary, including “locating,” “shoulder bag,” “leather,” “office laptop” and “car details.” These choices communicate the main information, and the taxi’s model and registration provide useful precision. Some spelling and word-choice errors reduce accuracy, including “wehn,” “dezire” and “post the car details,” which is not a natural way to describe asking a company to circulate information. “I would be highly obliged” is understandable but sounds less natural in this context than a direct, polite request. Check the spelling of names and use conventional terms such as “registration number” and “contact the driver.” This would make the vocabulary more precise and idiomatic.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, for example, “I am writing this letter as I need your help locating my shoulder bag…” and “if you can post the car details…”. The main meaning is generally understandable, but some grammatical and punctuation errors remain. The opening joins two complete clauses with a comma; use a full stop or a conjunction. In “At 7 pm when I left the office there was a taxi…,” punctuation after the introductory time clause would improve control. The sentence listing the bag and its contents also needs clearer structure, such as “It is a black leather bag with a Puma logo, and it contains my office laptop and some files.” Use consistent capitalisation for “I” and punctuate the closing appropriately.
