Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: explaining why you are no longer using the bike, describing it, and suggesting why your friend would like it. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which limits the development of your ideas. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the brevity prevents you from fully expanding on the description of the bicycle or the benefits for your friend. To improve, ensure you provide more descriptive detail and elaborate on your points to meet the length requirement, which will allow you to demonstrate a more complete response to the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. You use some cohesive devices like 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Also' to connect your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'Additional this can make your travel...'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the lack of length makes the overall flow feel somewhat abrupt. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that your transitions between sentences are smoother and more sophisticated.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using words like 'commute', 'equipped', and 'transportation'. However, there are several errors in word choice and collocation that hinder precision, such as 'band new' (brand new), 'found of' (fond of), and 'l insists you' (I suggest/recommend). These errors do not completely impede communication, but they do show a lack of control over more complex vocabulary. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and proofreading for spelling and word-form errors to ensure your writing is more accurate and professional.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('I hope your doing good', 'I hardly gets time'), missing articles ('bicycle is no more useful'), and punctuation errors. While the meaning remains understandable, these errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Practicing the difference between 'your' and 'you're' and ensuring consistent verb tenses will significantly improve your accuracy.
