Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear, Kirandeep
I hope you are in a good spirits. I want to sell my bicycle to you. In this letter i will happily give you full details of my bicycle as it is not much expensive now. But i bought it new if you remember you and me both were together and eventually i decided to have a bicycle that was listed around 500$.
I wish you recall that day. Anyhow, i will explain you it is green and blue in colour with both front and rear discs. Additionally, the company is RR. Unfortunately i did not use it much due to my schedule as i worked 6 days of week. I purchased it for my trips as i am very busy this year so i dont have any plans.
I saw you couple of videos on instagaram that you were talking about that you are planing to have a bicycle. Also, i heard from you once you will going next month for banff and jasper trip. So i guess you should have a bicycle with you as you cannot see a hidden views from car.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why you are selling the bike, describing it, and suggesting why your friend would want it. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the description of the bicycle is quite brief, and the explanation of why you are selling it could be more clearly linked to your current circumstances. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is expanded with more detail and that the flow between these points is more natural.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices like 'Additionally' and 'Also' to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes a bit disjointed. For instance, the transition between discussing the bicycle's features and your work schedule is abrupt. Additionally, the closing of the letter is incomplete ('I apprecate'), which affects the overall coherence. Improving the use of linking phrases and ensuring a complete, natural sign-off would significantly improve the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You use a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'eventually', 'additionally', and 'unfortunately'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'hidden views' instead of 'scenic views' or 'hidden gems', and 'not much expensive' instead of 'not very expensive'. There are also minor spelling errors like 'instagaram' and 'apprecate'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise vocabulary and better attention to spelling to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'I hope you are in a good spirits' (should be 'in good spirits'), 'I will explain you' (should be 'I will explain it to you'), and 'you will going' (should be 'you will be going'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and the capitalization of 'i'. While these errors rarely impede the overall meaning, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent tense usage will help.
