Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Ramesh,
How’s everything? I know we’re going to meet at the end of the month but there’s something I need to ask to you . As you know , I have completed my high school and now I have taken admission in college which is very close to my house. So , the HERO HONDA electric cycle i have is of no use.
However , you must remember that my aunt gifted me this cycle on my last birthday. So, it is in brand new condition. Also, some of the covers of this cycle are even unwrapped. Its batteru condition is also very good.
Therefore, I heard from my mother that your mother was planning to buy you a cycle as your school is very far from your house. I know when you had a first glance of my cycle on my birthday you loved it . I would be very happy to sell my loving cycle to my best friend as I know whenever I will miss my cycle I can have a ride on it. I can also give you discount as per my budget. You can discuss with your family and let me know if you are interested.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours lovingly Kunwar

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly explain why you are no longer using the bicycle (college is close to home), provide a description (brand new, unwrapped parts, good battery), and explain why your friend would like it (school is far, he liked it previously). The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, and the purpose is clear throughout. The ideas are well-developed and relevant to the task requirements. You have maintained a consistent and friendly tone throughout the correspondence, which is essential for this task type.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'However', 'Also', and 'Therefore' to link your ideas. While the paragraphing is generally effective, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is smooth, moving from the reason for selling to the description of the item and finally the proposal to the friend. The referencing is clear, and the letter follows a natural flow that is easy for the reader to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'brand new condition' and 'first glance' are used appropriately. There are some minor issues with word choice, such as 'taken admission' (should be 'enrolled') and 'batteru' (spelling error). While you use some less common vocabulary, there is room to incorporate more sophisticated collocations to reach a higher band. Overall, the vocabulary is adequate for the task and does not impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'ask to you' (should be 'ask you') and 'the HERO HONDA electric cycle i have is' (capitalization of 'I'). Punctuation is generally functional, though there are some inconsistent spaces before commas. Despite these occasional errors, the majority of your sentences are clear and error-free. The control of grammar is sufficient to maintain a natural flow, and the errors do not cause any confusion for the reader.
