Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Rahul,
I hope you're enjoying your life in Canada. I know this place is new for you and since you landed as a student, there are lots of things you will get to know. I have a bike which I don't use anymore due to the fact that I have bought a car recently.
Here are the things you should know about my bike. Firstly, it's an electric bicycle, Black policed and batter back up is pretty good. It also carries additional features like charging port and in front you get a little stand where you can keep your bottle.
I'm sure you will love this bike. It's only 2 years old and because you are a student you will be in need of this as the transport services are not that good. Using bicycle, you can go to work or university. Additionally, it help you save lots of money and time.
I will wait for your response and drop it near your location..
Best wishes
Priyanka

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You explained why you are no longer using the bicycle (purchased a car), described the bike (electric, black, features), and provided a clear reason why your friend would benefit from it (student life, transport issues). The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly more on the description of the bike to make it more vivid, but overall, the task is fully covered.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with clear paragraphing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific requirement of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Additionally', and 'because', which help the flow of ideas. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the connection between sentences is smoother, particularly in the second paragraph where the list of features could be integrated more naturally into a cohesive sentence structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. Phrases like 'transport services' and 'additional features' are appropriate. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'Black policed' (likely meant 'polished' or 'glossy black') and 'batter back up' (should be 'battery backup'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more descriptive adjectives would enhance the quality of your response.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'it help you save' (should be 'it will help you save') and 'Using bicycle' (should be 'Using the bicycle'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article usage errors throughout the text. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will help improve your accuracy.
