Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Friend,
I hope you are doing well. I would like to give you an offer for my bicycle which I brought two years later. I want to sell to you because of my relocation, as you know I relocated my apartment and I don't have space to put that bicycle because I have lot of stuff and now my college is nearby to my location so I don't think that it is useful for me. I think you will use it very well than me.
In addition, As the description of the bicycle it is red in color and have a basket in the front of the handle to keep the books without having discomfort.
Moreover, As your home is far from the college it will useful for you and it saves your money which you used in bus or metro. It also beneficial to your health as exercising the legs as saves environment from pollution and energy resources.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: explaining why you are no longer using the bike, describing it, and explaining why your friend would benefit from it. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the description of the bicycle is quite brief, focusing only on the color and the basket. To reach a higher band, you should provide more descriptive detail, such as the condition of the bike, the brand, or the type of bicycle (e.g., mountain bike or road bike). The explanation for why your friend would like it is relevant, but the phrasing is occasionally repetitive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your message. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition' and 'Moreover' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the reason for selling and the description of the bike feels a bit abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is unclear; for instance, in the sentence 'I think you will use it very well than me,' the comparison is awkward. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points clearly. You use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'relocation,' 'basket,' and 'pollution.' However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'brought two years later' (should be 'bought two years ago') and 'exercising the legs as saves environment.' These errors occasionally hinder the precision of your message. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually accurate rather than relying on direct translations or slightly misused terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is a good start. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'my college is nearby to my location' (should be 'near my home'), 'As the description of the bicycle it is red' (should be 'As for the description'), and 'it will useful' (missing the verb 'be'). These errors are noticeable and sometimes distract the reader, although they do not completely prevent understanding. To progress, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that every sentence contains a clear main verb.
