Dear Aman,

I am writing a letter regarding my bicycle. My Father gave me new bicycle on my birthday as a gift. Indeed, i love my previous bicycle , but there is not only space problem but also using both of them together , is not a good idea. Furthermore, i need some money, previous one was expensive, so selling is a good deal for me.

Moreover, the colour of bicycle is pink as all girls like it. The height is 4 feet. i am using for last three years, it is in good condition, however , you need to change one tire , by which i have at home as extra. The amazing thing in my bicycle is a basket on front, you can carry your stuff on the basket.

Therefore, i would like to offer you my bike, as you know, it is precious for me, and you can use in your summer bicycle camp,

your loving

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The letter addresses all three bullet points: the reason for selling, a description of the bike, and why the friend would like it. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation regarding the 'space problem' and the 'need for money' is brief. The description of the bicycle is functional but lacks detail, and the suggestion that the friend would like it because of a 'summer bicycle camp' is a good idea but could have been expanded to sound more persuasive. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to a friend, though it occasionally feels a bit transactional rather than conversational.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'Therefore', though some are used slightly mechanically or with minor punctuation errors. The referencing is generally clear, although the transition between the description of the bike and the offer to sell it could be smoother. The overall structure is coherent, and the letter follows a standard informal format, which is sufficient for this task.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to communicate their message clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'precious' and 'condition', but the range is somewhat limited. Some word choices are slightly unnatural, such as 'using both of them together, is not a good idea' or 'by which i have at home'. While there are some errors in word choice and collocation, they do not impede communication, and the meaning remains clear throughout the letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The student uses a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('the colour of bicycle', 'on front'), capitalization issues ('i', 'Father'), and comma splices. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the intended meaning. To improve, the student should focus on basic subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles, as well as refining punctuation to avoid run-on sentences.
