Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three points clearly: you explain that a new job in another city and your parents’ arrival mean you need a car and more storage, describe the bicycle as red, electric and GPS-equipped, and connect it to your friend’s nearby workplace and school. These details make the offer relevant and give the reader reasons to consider it. The explanation of why your friend would like the bicycle is supported by practical commuting and health benefits. To strengthen the response further, develop the description with a little more information about its condition or features, and make the storage reason more directly relevant to selling a bicycle rather than buying a car. Overall, the purpose and audience are clear throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The letter has a clear progression: the opening states your purpose, the following paragraphs explain your circumstances and describe the bicycle, and the final body paragraph gives reasons your friend might want it. Paragraphing supports this organisation, and phrases such as “Moreover” and “which is why” help connect ideas. This meets the lower-band expectation of a coherent overall arrangement and shows some flexibility in linking points. However, “Moreover” is repeated, and the links between needing a car, needing storage, and selling the bicycle are not always smooth. Punctuation and spacing also interrupt the flow in places, such as “home. Moreover” and “Moreover,It.” Use a wider range of natural transitions and check sentence boundaries to make the progression more seamless.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use adequate vocabulary for the purpose, including relevant terms such as “fully electric,” “warranty,” “GPS,” “commute,” and “public transport.” These allow you to describe the bicycle and explain its practical benefits. There are also attempts at more specific wording, particularly when you mention tracking it if it is stolen. Some choices and spelling errors reduce precision, however: “electic” is misspelled, “more storage” is not a natural way to express the need for space, and “In the case robbery” is an inaccurate phrase. “Congested” also does not clearly describe a home with limited space. Aim for more natural collocations and accurate spelling; this would make the message sound more fluent and precise.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses with “because,” “which,” and “so,” and the main message remains understandable. However, some grammatical errors occur in basic patterns and in longer sentences. For example, “I am to writing to tell to you” should be “I am writing to tell you,” while “i am” needs the pronoun capitalised. In “I got a job … which is far from my home,” the reference of “which” is unclear; splitting this into two sentences would help. There are also punctuation and sentence-boundary problems, such as “home. Moreover,” and inconsistent capitalisation of “It.” Practise accurate verb patterns and articles, and proofread punctuation while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
