Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: explaining the reason for the job search, describing the desired role, and requesting assistance. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, although the use of all-caps is unconventional and should be avoided. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, though the development of the 'kind of job' section could be slightly more detailed to fully meet the requirements of a higher band. Overall, the purpose of the letter is clear and the message is effectively communicated.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized, with a clear progression from the purpose of the letter to the specific request for help. Paragraphing is used, though the structure is somewhat compressed. Cohesive devices are present (e.g., 'Since', 'And now'), but they are used in a somewhat basic manner. The flow of ideas is generally smooth, and the reader can easily follow the writer's intent. To improve, the writer should focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that paragraph breaks are clearly defined.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their needs clearly. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'It would be so grateful for me' (should be 'I would be very grateful') and 'any sort of information' (written as 'any sort of information'). While the range is sufficient to convey the message, it lacks the variety and precision required for a higher band. The use of 'connecting to you' is slightly unnatural; 'writing to you' would be more standard.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The letter contains a mix of simple and compound sentences. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I am done with studies' (missing 'my'), 'worked in kitchen' (missing 'a'), and 'have many years experience' (missing 'of'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of all-caps and missing commas in complex sentences. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on articles, prepositions, and sentence structure will help improve accuracy.
