Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Abhi,
As you know i was working in Amazon on contract base of 6 month and yesterday this period has been end they asked me to leave. so now i am unemployed and want a new job.
As i recently, finished my studies in computer field and i have an experience of IT technician in Amazon also. That is why i want a good job in any IT sector, i have good skills in computer programming. The pay rates in IT jobs are also quite satisfied and i think by getting an opportunity for a job in another IT job will increase mu experience in my field and can provide a good lifestyle.
I tried my best, to apply for jobs. There are many profiles such as LinkedIn, indeed and many others that i created but i failed to get a job in any sector. i will appreciate if you help me in finding the new employment for myself.
Thanking you
Yuvraj

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter covers all three bullet points: explaining the job loss, describing the desired role, and requesting help. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, although it is slightly formal in places. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly on the specific type of IT role you are looking for (e.g., software developer vs. system administrator) to provide more depth. Overall, the purpose of the letter is clear and the requirements are fully met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into paragraphs, each focusing on one of the bullet points. There is a clear progression of ideas from the situation to the request for help. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and limited. For example, the transition between the job description and the job search efforts could be smoother. Using more varied linking words such as 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'in addition' would improve the flow and help the text feel more natural and cohesive.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, but it lacks variety and precision. You rely on basic terms like 'good job' and 'many others.' There are also some minor errors in word choice, such as 'contract base' instead of 'contract basis' and 'pay rates... are quite satisfied' instead of 'satisfactory.' To improve, try to incorporate more specific professional terminology related to the IT field and avoid repetitive phrasing. The spelling is generally accurate, though the lack of capitalization for 'I' is a recurring issue.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but accuracy is inconsistent. You frequently omit the capital 'I' when referring to yourself, and there are errors in verb tense and punctuation, such as 'this period has been end' (should be 'has ended') and 'I tried my best, to apply' (unnecessary comma). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation will significantly improve your writing quality.
