Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: explaining the reason for leaving, describing the desired job, and requesting assistance. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a friend, maintaining a personal and informal style throughout. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, providing sufficient detail to satisfy the task requirements. The transition from the explanation of the current work situation to the request for help is logical and well-integrated. Overall, the response is fully developed and meets the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. There is a clear progression of ideas from the opening to the closing. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat basic and occasionally repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'because' and 'that is the reason'. While the paragraphing is effective, the flow between some sentences could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words or transition phrases to enhance the naturalness of the text. Despite these minor issues, the message remains easy to follow throughout.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their thoughts clearly. There are some attempts at using more specific terminology, such as 'finance consultation' and 'work-efficiency', though some word choices are slightly unnatural or imprecise, such as 'I am belong to a commerce field'. There are also minor errors in word formation and collocation, such as 'effecting' instead of 'affecting'. While the range is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, it lacks the flexibility and precision required for a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The letter contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and punctuation. For example, 'It has been so long that i have not been in touch' is awkward, and there are several run-on sentences, such as the final paragraph where multiple clauses are joined only by commas. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Greater attention to sentence boundaries and basic grammatical rules would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
